Just one of those nights - both Patriot teams notched ugly victories against visiting Merrol Hyde Magnet Tuesday night.

 Girls - Heritage 44, Merrol Hyde 29

Hosts Heritage struggled mightily from the field Tuesday night, allowing an outmatched Merrol Hyde team to hang around far longer that they should have. The Lady Pats hit an anemic 19 of 62 shots in their 44-29 win over the Lady Hawks.

Kimi Dorris did find her shooting stroke in the second quarter - the senior hit three 3-pointers in the second period to help hold the visiting Hawks at bay. She led all scorers with 17 points, 15 from beyond the line.

MERROL HYDE (29) - Mitchell 16, Baca 8, Ervin 4, Wright 1

HERITAGE (44) - Dorris 17, Ray 11, Traughber 4, Atwood 4, Doty 2, Fitzpatrick 2, Green 2, Smith 2

Boys - Heritage 61, Merrol Hyde 52

Suffering from a bit of a hangover after Friday's win over top-ranked Clarksville Academy, the Patriots raced to an early lead Tuesday night, but followed with three sloppy quarters to hang on for a 61-52 win over Merrol Hyde.

The Pats' opportunistic defense lead to multiple fast-breaks in the first quarter, and the Hawks had no answer in the half-court for Jordan Bedwell, who scored 8 of his team-high 18 points in the first quarter to pace the hosts to a 21-7 lead.

However, lackluster play by Heritage allowed the guests to close to within 3 points at 39-36 with just over two minutes left in the third, but Hawk guard Brandon Lankster was ejected twenty seconds later for rough play during the scramble for a loose ball. Bedwell's 3-pointer from the top of the key a minute later gave the hosts the momentum for good, as the Patriots held off a gritty Hawk team led by Ian Underwood, who finished with 22 points.

MERROL HYDE (52) - Underwood 22, Lang 14, Lankster 9, Obptanbe 5, Eisenbraun 2

HERITAGE (61) - Bedwell 18, Kirby 16, Harper 10, Moore 9, D. Ray 4, Morris 4
