Coach Dee Spencer urged his team to 'calm down' during the fourth quarter.
The Blue Devil boys snapped out of an early shooting slump Thursday night to overtake and then hold off a scrappy Goodpasture team, while the girls lost their sixth-straight.
Girls -Goodpasture 47 - White House 43
After leading throughout the first half, the Lady Devils squandered a 10-point fourth quarter lead to fall 47-43 to the visiting Lady Cougars.
After shooting poorly in the first half, the visitors capitalized on sloppy ball-handling by White House to spark a 7-0 run early in the fourth quarter, tying the game at 36-36 with just under four minutes left to play. Back-to-back 3-pointers provided a cushion too great for the Lady Devils to overcome, as Goodpasture shot well enough from the free throw line to win.
White House center Niki Fogle left the game after injuring her elbow during a scramble for a loose ball in the third quarter.

Boys - Goodpasture 54 - White House 55
The Blue Devil boys snapped out of an early shooting slump Thursday night to overtake and then hold off a scrappy Goodpasture team, 55-54.
Held to zero points from the floor in the first five minutes, White House trailed 14-7; however, the hosts used a 9-0 second-quarter run to claw back into the lead. Devil senior Rob Poindexter then made a tough running floater in traffic as the half expired and was fouled - his free throw tied the game at 25-25 at the break.
White House held the momentum in the third period, using better defensive pressure to put together a 15-4 run, then played well enough to hold the Cougars at arm's length despite sub-par shooting from the free throw line.
The Blue Devils have two brutal back-to-back district games remaining, playing next Friday, February 12, at Macon County (with the winner likely crowed district champ), then the make-up game at Greenbrier on Saturday.
GOODPASTURE (54) - McElhiney 25, Bell 12, McClain 10, Jones 3, Lynn 2, Hardin 2
WHITE HOUSE (55) - Poindexter 19, Ward 14, Tidwell 11, Elrod 8, Hill 3
