Heritage falls to Macon County

The Lady Pats struggled to find an offensive rhythm in their season opener, falling to the visiting Lady Tigers 56-25. The Tigers pounced on Heritage early, using full-court pressure to lead by 12 at the end of the first period, and never looked back. MC guard Kelsa Gregory led all scorers with 13 points in just over a half of action. Shelby Ray's 11 first-half points led the hosts.

November basketball tends to be sloppy, and Monday's match-up was no exception. The Patriots struggled with both ball protection and shooting, and fell 47-38 to the visiting Tigers of Macon County.

Trailing by as many as 10, the Patriots rolled off nine unanswered points late in the third quarter to take a one-point lead; however, two consecutive turnovers allowed the Tigers to regain control by the end of the period. In the fourth, Heritage's already shaky shooting aim disappeared completely, and the Tigers coasted to the victory. MC guard Dallas Grace's 14 points led all scorers; seven of Ethan Kirby's team-leading 11 points fueled the Patriots' third surge.
